This year’s Whole Child Institute will focus on the social-emotional learning needs of adolescents and teens, and will feature keynoter Dominique Smith along with a panel of students from Girls for a Change and Leah Walker from the Virginia Department of Education.

Parking and Accommodations - Parking is limited at the University. The closest parking to Alumni Hall is the Emmet Street Garage which charges $2 per hour. If you are staying overnight, the English Inn (434-971-9900) offers favorable room rates and offers shuttle service to Alumni Hall based on availability. Please carpool if possible!

Dominique Smith

Dominique Smith is Chief of Educational Services and Teacher Relations at Health Sciences High and Middle College in San Diego. He is co-author with Nancy Frey and Doug Fisher of All Learning is Social-Emotional Learning: Helping Students Develop Essential Skills for the Classroom and Beyond, and is an ASCD Faculty member.
