Join Matt Shields, designer of the Sigma Lab and Charlottesville’s Engineering Curriculum, to see this highly successful program in action. Attendees will hear from students about the project-based, lecture-free learning environment, observe Engineering class in action, and participate in a “First Day of School” simulation. Opportunities to explore and discuss applications to each attendee’s own learning environment will be built into the agenda. The Forum is free for VASCD members; please bring your registration ticket with you! Morning coffee and lunch will be provided by VASCD.
Matt Shields teaches Physics and Engineering at Charlottesville High School. He is the designer of the school division's 5-year engineering curriculum, and was the recipient of MIT's Inspirational Teacher Award in 2014.
