Now that we are half of a year into the implementation of the VLA, it's a great time to reflect on progress and sharpen our skills! This one-day conference is designed to unpack the “how to” and “what” of teaching reading. This conference includes:

  • General session keynote featuring Sarah Lupo, associate professor, College of Education, James Madison University
  • Breakout sessions arranged in the following strands: assessment & intervention, K-2 reading instruction, 3-5 reading instruction, and leadership
  • Topics such as best practices for intervention, phonics & morphological instruction, comprehension, the use of text sets, district SOR shifts, and more (featuring presenters from W&M School of Education, W&M TTAC, Virginia Department of Education, Virginia Literacy Partnerships, and George Mason University)

FEES

  • $200 per person for SURN divisions and VATLL/VASCD members
  • $250 per person for general audience (includes VATLL/VASCD Annual Membership)
